ADVAN
offer VeriLUM® Color
Dual Mode pod made by Images Smith. It offers a faster
and more accurate approach to calibrate color displays
when operate in conjunction with ADVAN monitor and
video card which is driven under a true color video
format to display grayscale. This new technique, called
OptiGrayscale, produces 256 distinct grayscale luminance
values in place of the 210 to 235 obtained in the past.
We use sub-pixel modulation and control for chromaticity
variation to inhibit image tinting.
IMAGE Smiths, Inc.
measures an ADVAN LCD display in a laboratory setting
using their own OptiGrayscale software and then places
the resulting characteristic curve file on the website.
When the end-user performs calibration, a small number
of measurements is made (in about 30 seconds) and the
gamma correction LUT is loaded onto the video card.
Conformance tracking is performed as usual and indicates
how well the gamma correction meets the DICOM® Part
14 model. The results to-date shows dramatic improvement
in the Standard Error of the Mean JNDs per Luminance
Interval.
